Meet Mallik Balla, Our New Chief Information Officer

Meeting a New Standard For Cybersecurity

At IBVI, we proudly support the US government and military by supplying them with the tools they need to get their jobs done while complying to all government requirements and high security standards. To lead the IBVI team in guarding our (and the government’s) information to comply with the Department of Defense’s (DOD) new cybersecurity certification process for government contractors, we have added a new member to our executive team. We’re proud to introduce Mallikarjun (“Mallik”) Balla as our new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Mallik joins IBVI with 20 years of experience as an information technology executive. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Information Technology at National Industries for the Blind for 3 years, giving him experience with our mission. In his new roleI—which is a new role at IBVI—Mallik will be overseeing and assessing our internal technology capabilities and managing how we use (and protect) our information. Ultimately, he will help make our technical operations run more smoothly so we can fulfill our mission of employing those who are blind or visually impaired.

Mallik will also help us to continually meet new government cybersecurity requirements. This year, the DOD rolled out a new certification standard called the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) that aims to streamline the security standards for government information. This applies to the over 300,000 government contractors connected to the DOD, and IBVI certainly falls in that large and important group.

Right now, with the help of Mallik and our team, we are in the process of getting ready for a CMMC audit by completing our own “gap analysis” based on the new requirements. This assessment will help us determine areas of improvement relative to our information security.

We’re thankful to have Mallik on our team to help us be the best government partner we can be. As with all our employees, though, there is more to Mallik than his contributions to IBVI. When not in the office, he enjoys the beautiful Wisconsin summers by riding his bike, running,, hiking, and spending time with his wife and two children.

We welcome him to our team as we seek excellence and look to grow our impact in our community and around the world!
