Industries for the Blind Expands Employment Opportunities

Industries for the Blind (IB) Celebrates Grand Opening of Menomonee Falls Facility

On November 29th 2017, Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker was one of several special guests present to celebrate the grand opening of the Industries for the Blind’s new 98,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Menomonee Falls, WI.

IB is relocating operations from Hartland, WI to access a larger labor pool of skilled workers, many of whom are blind or visually impaired. The facility located at W141N9450 Fountain Blvd, Menomonee Falls, WI opened 11/29/2017.

Governor Scott Walker took a facility tour, conversed with IB employees and helped to cut the ribbon signifying the official grand opening of the facility. Governor Walker also spoke about his new workforce agenda, which is focused on enhancing Wisconsin’s workforce, removing barriers to work, and meeting the state’s current and future workforce needs.

“For nearly 70 years, Industries for the Blind has helped keep businesses running smoothly with their high-quality products while providing accessible employment to a diverse workforce,” said Governor Walker. “I’m proud to join them today in celebrating this next step in their growth, and I look forward to their future success as they help move Wisconsin’s economy forward.”

The grand opening ceremony entailed remarks from Governor Scott Walker, IB President and CEO CJ Lange, IB Account Specialist Steve Heesen, Menomonee Falls Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald and Force Projection Deputy Project Manager Mr. Steve Roberts, Menomonee Falls community members and friends from the blind community helped to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Several assembly and kitting operations will be based at the Menomonee Falls facility including recruiting kits for the US Navy and US Air Force as well as continued growth with tool kits. The latest tool kitting opportunity with PM SKOT is a large step forward for Industries for the Blind and the AbilityOne program that has the mission of providing employment opportunities to skilled blind individuals.
