October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)

As we head into October, make sure you are thinking about inclusivity and why it’s important

Every year, the month of October is recognized for many things. But to us at IBVI, the most important is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Created as a way to celebrate America’s disability workforce—the national awareness campaign highlights how important it is for employers to practice inclusivity in their policies and procedures so that all Americans who want to work, can.

The theme of NDEAM this year is, “Right Talent, Right Now” which emphasizes the crucial role that people with disabilities play in America’s economic success. In a time with historically low unemployment, we should come together as a nation to celebrate the invaluable contributions people with disabilities make in the workplace, and raise awareness of the many benefits that come from having an inclusive American economy.

Led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, NDEAM’s true spirit lies in the many observances held at the grassroots level across the U.S. every year.

To learn more about how you can participate in NDEAM, please visit the Department of Labor website.
